Paice Claims 2nd Overall at QMP for Moto1 Motorcycles KTM to Finish ProMX
The Moto1 Motorcycles KTM Team returned to the ProMX podium in the MX3 Class at Queensland Moto Park (QMP), with Deacon Paice claiming 2nd overall in an equal season best performance. With a huge representation on track across the Moto1 Motorcycles KTM Race and Support Program, QMP proved a fantastic stage for the ProMX Championship to conclude for the Sunshine Coast based Dealership.
After taking a Moto win and 2nd overall earlier in the season at Round 2, small injuries and crashes kept Deacon Paice from continuing that momentum throughout the Championship. Continuing to Holeshot Moto’s and lead laps through the season, Paice refused to settle and once again found himself battling out front across the weekend at QMP.
Setting the fastest time in his Qualifying group, Paice would land 4-2 Moto scores en route to 2nd Overall at the Final Round, solidifying 5th overall in the MX3 Championship.
“It feels great to be back on the podium again to finish the ProMX Championship. All season long I’ve put myself in good positions with Holeshots and leading laps, the middle part of the year was tough for me, but to give back to the Moto1 Motorcycles KTM Team and all of the people that support my program with this 2nd Overall feels awesome,” commented Paice.
Moto1 Motorcycles KTM Teammates Zac O’Loan and Darci Whalley also finished the ProMX Championship strong, with O’Loan achieving a 13th position in the final MX3 gate drop of the season, whilst Whalley would round out her first professional MXW campaign as a senior with 9-9 Moto scores and 9th Overall.
Across the Moto1 Motorcycles Support Program, Phoenix Van Dusschoten would impress after a late season switch to KTM, Van Dusschoten piloted his 250 SX-F to 7-6 Moto scores and 7th overall for a career best performance in MX3. Cooper Phillips found himself once again inside the top 15 in the opening Moto with 14th place, as the New Zealand riders finished out their ProMX campaign for 2024.
Moto1 Motorcycles Dealership owner Shane Fretwell commented on a successful end to the ProMX Championship: “2024 has seen huge growth for both our KTM supported Race Team and Support Programs. To see Deacon land back on the podium at QMP is a testament to all of his hard work this season and a great reward for KTM, our Team partners and everyone involved.”
The Moto1 Motorcycles KTM Team would like to thank KTM Australia. WP Suspension Australia, Motorex, Pirelli, FOX Racing Australia, Guts Racing and RK Chains for their continued support throughout the 2024 ProMX Championship.
