On track for their HomeTown ProMX Round, the Moto1 Motorcycles KTM Team and their MX3 squad pushed for multiple Top 10 results, with MX3 stand out Deacon Paice once again leading laps and challenging for podium positions.

Deacon Paice started the day fastest in his MX3 Qualifying group, posting the 2nd fastest time overall, leading to a fantastic gate pick for the Sunshine Coast based youngster from WA.

After claiming the Holeshot in Moto1, Paice would be shuffled back in turn 2 before being cross jumped and hitting the ground with other riders on the opening lap. Remounting and charging through the field, Paice would near the top 10 placings before another fall would see him finish in 18th position.

Determined to make amends in Moto 2, another Holeshot saw Paice lead the opening laps before settling into 3rd for the majority of the Moto, ultimately finishing in 4th at the chequered flag and 9th overall on the day.

“I felt good today and we had the speed I’ve been lacking the past few Rounds, but the crash on the opening lap in the first Moto made it hard to be on the overall podium. Thanks to Moto1 Motorcycles, KTM Australia and my mechanic Josh, we have been working hard and I’m excited to finish the season strong at QMP,” commented Paice.

Teammate Zac O’Loan once again showed solid speed, Qualifying well out of his group and running at the back side of the Top 10 in both Moto’s before mistakes and issues would relegate him outside of the overall points, claiming 21st Overall for Round 7.

New addition to the Moto1 Motorcycles KTM support program, Phoenix Van Dusschoten impressed with strong rides inside the top 10 and 10th Overall for Round 7, with fellow New Zealand compatriot Cooper Philips also enjoying a similar season best performance with 13th Overall on the day.

Moto 1 Motorcycles KTM Team owner Shane Fretwell commented: “It was great for us to showcase our Moto1 Motorcycles KTM Team and support programs here at our local ProMX Round. The riders gave their all and the results for Deacon may not have shown, but he was extremely competitive today. To have so many of our KTM support riders inside the Top 10 was great to see and we are excited to finish the season on a high at QMP.”

The Moto1 Motorcycles KTM Team now head to Queensland Moto Park (QMP) for the Final Round of the ProMX Championship on the 17th and 18th August.
