Onboard the KTM 250 SX-F, Minear registered the fifth-quickest qualifying time and, come the opening moto, he gained comfort to meet the chequered flag in sixth position.
It was a tough start to the second moto for the teenager, but he was able to work his way from P15 to P7 before the halfway mark. Despite being in a heated battle with a handful of other riders late in the race, Minear was able to hold his own and finish fifth, to take P6 overall on the day.
Kayden Minear: “Today was up and down. It was a very tricky track to pass on, but I felt really good on the bike all day. I’m not stoked with my end result, as I don’t believe it showed how good I was riding. Taking the positives, I’ve moved into second in the championship and I’m excited to get down to business next weekend at QMP.”
Round seven started out promising for KTM Racing Team MX1 contender Nathan Crawford. After qualifying fifth-fastest aboard his KTM 450 SX-F, he worked his way through the pack in the opening encounter to finish an impressive P3.
Unfortunately, luck turned against him in the second moto when he was taken down in the opening corners, then tangled with another rider a handful of laps later. He remounted near the back of the pack, but recovered to finish 16th and complete his day ninth overall. Crawford remains third in the MX1 championship standings.
Nathan Crawford: “I don’t have a lot to say, really. I had high expectations for today and the day started well – I was able to make a lot of passes to finish third in the opening moto. The second race was one of those ones where nothing goes right. I crashed twice, hurt my wrist and had to work hard just to earn some points. It was a really disappointing result in the end.”
