Career best 6th place for Rian King and Moto1 Motorcycles Honda At Murray Bridge

The Moto1 Motorcycles Honda Team fielded a full roster of riders at ProMX Round 5, with the return of Rian King in MX2 and Phoenix Van Dusschoten in MX3 competing alongside Curtis King in MX2.

After a rare skin infection caused Rian King’s season to come to a halt prior to Round 4 at Maitland, subsequent finger surgery and recovery time meant he would return to Round 5 with 2 days of riding coming into Murray Bridge.

With his fitness a question mark, Rian King incredibly posted a career best 6th position in the opening MX2 Moto. With his grip endurance proving an issue in Moto 2, a gritty performance would see Rian King claim 10th Overall for Round 5.

“I really surprised myself today. I honestly wasn’t sure if I had more than a few laps in me at race pace with my finger still recovering, but once I got the flow going in Moto 1 there was no way I was dropping back from 6th position. Moto 2 was a struggle, but to land 10th Overall feels great,” said Rian King.

Older Brother Curtis King also showed great speed and track position across the MX2 Motos, where a few small crashes mixed with speed saw Curtis King battling inside the top 10. Curtis King would ride to 13th Overall at Round 5.

The third member of the New Zealand trio of riders returning from injury to complete the team line-up was Phoenix Van Dusschoten in MX3. After several rounds away from racing, Van Dussochten came home in a respectable 17th overall at Round 5.

The Moto1 Motorcycles Honda Team will now focus on the QLD Championships taking place at QMP from Friday 28th June to Monday July 1st.
