Caloundra Motorcycle Centre BETA Australia Team Field Expanded Rider Line Up For ProMX R7 MX Farm
The Caloundra Motorcycle Centre (CMC) BETA Australia Team expanded its presence with the All-New BETA RX450 at Round 7 of the ProMX Championship, with Team regular Levi Rogers being joined by AORC Championship contender Andy Wilksch for the Final two Rounds of the Championship.
In MX1 Qualifying, Rogers would narrowly miss out on the SuperPole session placings, struggling to get a clean lap whilst posting the 12th fastest time. In a frenzied reintroduction to the pace of ProMX Championship Qualifying, Andy Wilksch posted the 25th fastest time.
In the opening MX1 Moto, Rogers would run at the backside of the Top Ten placings in the opening laps until a heavily watered track saw Rogers crash down one of the steep MX Farm hills, resulting in a DNF and deep lacerations to his hand, requiring attention from the RaceSafe Medical Team.
“When I washed the front wheel down the hill my fingers became trapped under the bars and it took a lot of skin from my fingers and knuckles, down to the bone. I’ll be seeing a specialist at the Hospital on Monday as it will likely require surgery and that unfortunately puts an end to my 2024 ProMX Championship with the final Round being next week,” commented Rogers.
Andy Wilksch was then left to fly the CMC BETA Australia flag solo, posting a very impressive 15th place in the opening MX1 moto. As the track developed into an extremely rough and hard pack setting for Moto 2, Wilksch would push through for 20th position and 18th Overall for Round 7.
“It was so much fun today to be out there battling at ProMX on the RX450. I haven’t done many race starts in recent years and the intensity of the opening laps took some getting used to, but I’m thankful to be leaving here healthy and we can build on this for QMP next weekend to finish strong,” explained Wilksch.
The CMC BETA Australia Team now head to Queensland Moto Park (QMP) for the Final Round of the ProMX Championship on the 17th and 18th August.
