Checking In With Joel Evans

With 3 Rounds of the ProMX Championship in the books, plus multiple state and overseas races already ticked off Joel Evans calendar, we caught up with the peoples champ and one of the hardest working Privateers in the pits to get his thoughts on 2024 so far.

1 – How has the 2024 season been going in your opinion?

I think the level of competition in the 24′ season is the highest I have ever seen in my career so far. My results haven’t been what i’m aiming for, but i’d say its been successful as i’m working my way up to the battle with some of the Factory Riders i’ve watched and looked up to since I was a junior rider.

2 – Has your privateer program grown with new partnerships?

For 24′ I have been making a lot of mid season adjustment to my overall program, as i want to see this thing grow for all my Partners and Myself. Maitland will be the first Round I have invested in a Content Creator to follow us around for the first time with my Vlog Series. For years it has just been myself and Michaela putting the Youtube episodes together so this is an exciting step.

We enter 24′ with MXSTORE as a returning title sponsor alongside Brisbane Motorcycles and we also welcomed Viking Industrial as our newest title sponsor. The support from everyone have been unreal and I want to thank them by growing our program and footprint as much as possible.

3 – What’s the average week in the life of Joel Evans?

An average 7 day week from me with be 3 x Ride Sessions, 4 x Cross training Sessions, I run 2-3x Coaching Sessions per week also. That adds up to about 700-1000km in the van (without an away race). I also working with BackYardDesign Australia on projects and then we have the usual privateer deal of far too many hours working on my bike… oh and then and editing the Youtube videos!

4 – Thoughts on racing overseas?

I love traveling for racing and have done my fair share of racing in Asia. I’d love to tick some AMA Races off the bucket list in the next year or so.

5 – Goals for the rest of 2024

I just want to move into the battle with that 6,7,8,9 group of guys and continue to promote my sponsors the best i can.

Joel Evans now heads to Maitland, NSW, for Round 4 of the ProMX Championship this weekend May 25th & 26th.
